Update from Christy ~ February 9, 2017

Lots has been going on. I know some people have seen on Facebook, but I figured it was time to do an update for everybody.

On Monday I got my first thyrogen shot,Tuesday I got my second shot. I was blessed to have my friend Lisa go with me and hold my hand, those needles are huge! I stayed down at my friend Elizabeth’s house in Manhattan Beach for three days. On Wednesday I went into the Neuclear Medicine Doctor and by 10:30 A.M. I was radioactive! Thank God it finally all worked out. For those who are curious about the more details of the procedure; I went into a normal room, They brought out a metal cylinder that had obviously been on dry ice, the doctor put gloves on and then took out the pill bottle. She asked me to open my mouth, she shook the pill out into my mouth and made me drink a whole glass of water. Just like that I was radio active. They brought a Geiger counter in and measured me and said “yep you are hot, go straight to your vehicle and go straight home.”

Am I glowing?

Thursday at 12:30 I will have officially been in my room all alone in isolation for 24 hours. So far so good. Trevor worked all day on Tuesday to prepare my room. Brought a refridgerator & snacks into my room. I have to drink seven bottles of water a day, they want me to go to the bathroom every hour to flush the excess radiation out of my system. The only side effects I am noticing right now is my neck is very tingly. I assume it’s because there is a nuclear battle going on in my neck. I like it because that means something is doing it’s job. I am tired, but not to bad. I put pictures of my room here on the update because I am so blessed to have a husband and family who takes such good care of me. Mom is bringing meals while Trevor is at work. Jessica thought of little things to make everything more homey and easy for me to access. Like that little toaster oven thing. My niece, Jennie Zepeda is also going to the store and picking me up treats! I am so excited tonight I am having pizza!! I can not wait!!

Iodine diet is finally coming to an end! Next Wednesday I will be having my whole body scan which will light up any lymph nodes that have absorbed the radiation. After that. The doctor will be taking a blood test to see what my thyroglobulin level is at.

I believe we have won this battle! God is going to take care of the rest. Please stand in agreement with me.
