Back in January 2024, I shattered and partially severed my thumb. Thankfully, doctors were able to reattach it, and I’ve been working hard on healing ever since. But yesterday, May 29, I went to Loma Linda urgent care because it had been swollen, hot, and painful for a couple of weeks. To my surprise, they admitted me right into the hospital. After 24 hours here, I still haven’t had the MRI they ordered, but doctors are concerned there may be an infection—possibly even in the bone.
A hand surgeon came by and said they plan to remove the entire nail, and there’s even talk of possibly amputating my thumb if the infection has spread too far. This has been a lot to take in, and I’m doing my best to stay grounded. Right now, I’m just asking for your immediate prayers—specifically that the infection is not in the bone and that everything moves quickly so I can be released no later than tomorrow, May 31.
And while I have your attention, a quick cancer update:
I’ll be doing a PET scan in July to check whether radiation worked on the spot in my chest. I’m also experiencing pain in my back again—the same kind I had when they found cancer in my spine. So, I’d be so grateful for continued prayers for clear scans and strength.
On a brighter note, our Wild Wind Ranch Easter Festival was a huge success, and thanks to this amazing community, we raised nearly $4,000. My heart’s biggest hope is still to return to Mexico for treatment, but I’ll need to raise $26,000 to make that happen. If you feel called to pray, donate, or just send love, I would be so thankful.
Thank you for walking this road with me. Your support and prayers truly mean the world. ❤️
