Update for 9-20-18

This update is a little late, but the last couple of weeks I spent enjoying my family, friends and,of course, my horses..

There are medical issues needing my attention that I’m now sharing with you.  I keep positive thoughts, but I need your prayers*.

August 30th my blood was drawn to determine my thyroglobulin numbers.  Sept. 4h I went to LA and got the results.  I learned my numbers had gone from 19 and elevated to 27.  (Zero is the desired result.)    My LA endocrinologist is discussing this information with my surgeon at Loma Linda.   My latest PET scan and ultrasound revealed seven larger lymph nodes.  Most were under a centimeter, and the largest was only 1.1.  But now my elevated blood levels are a concern.

Right now I am praying there are no affected lymph nodes in my chest.  However a small one was detected in my medium sternum.

The Endocrinologist is ordering a brain scan to rule out any chances of it moving to the brain.  The doctor claims it is very rare, but he wants to be sure.

I have an ultra sound scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25th, with the possibility of a biopsy.  My doctors will discuss my case, and then I’ll see my surgeon on October 3rd to hear what they propose.

Both doctors are indecisive about doing surgery now and not being able to locate the infected lymph nodes which in turn, only results in more scar tissue.   BUT, because “C” is fast growing and aggressive we don’t want it to get out of hand.  Again pray* also that we make the right decisions.

Lots of people are asking how I feel….

Health wise through all this I never felt bad.  (Thank God.)  The medications worked well, and I never experienced pain other than from surgeries.  Emotionally, I’m numb.  I am blessed to have so many caring friends and family around me.  They keep me busy.

At this time my greatest fear and frustration is my insurance.  With all the tests and possible surgery, I need them to approve each one in a timely manner.  In the past, my insurance has been a headache.  For every procedure, I spend months gathering all the paper work and getting their approval.  It was denied 90% of the time.  On top of that, my deductibles were very high.  Please pray* that the insurance approves what I need without me having to fight.
