December 14th

Two weeks after surgery, Christy is doing well. She is still sleeping in a recliner due to the fact it is still painful to lay flat. Christy is able to do little trips out of house, but tires quickly.

Christy went to post-op appointment today. Her ENT doctor scoped her throat to check her larynx and vocal cords. He believes they are weak but not damaged, they should heal within time, so in the meantime we have a very soft spoken Christy. The incision site is healing well, no sign of infection, stitches will dissolve on their own. Doctor also checked to make sure sternum is fusing and healing well, it is healing nicely. The pathology Report came back from lymph nodes. In chest 27 out of 27 were infected with Poorly Differentiated Thyroid Insular Carcinoma. In Christy’s neck 4 out of 20 lymph nodes they removed were positive also. Doctor does believe because this cancer is rare and aggressive and it does not always respond to iodine treatment or radiation this will be an ongoing battle for the rest of her life. It will have to be monitored closely and dealt with accordingly.

Game plan now is Christy and Trevor will fly to Houston, Texas to the MD Anderson’s Cancer Center as planned. Fly out of Los Angeles on December 18th come home December 23rd. Christy has multiple doctor appointments the 19th and 20th with different doctors to see what they would do in this case. They are choosing to stay until December 23rd just in case MDAnderson feels other appointments are necessary. Meanwhile her ENT Doctor at Loma Linda is giving her multiple referrals for oncology and nuclear medicine. She will also continue to see her ENT doctor on a regular bases.

Trevor was able to continue to stay off work for a additional month but this is due to his back issues. This does help in some aspect because he can take Christy to Dr. appointments and take care of her while she is healing from surgery. Trevor will be doing Physical Therapy and tests to get to get some answers on his back issues. Christy will be off work for 2 more months at this point.

Prayer requests
* Obvious request – complete healing so Christy’s body will not produce more infected lymph nodes, and be healed 100%
* For Trevor’s injured back to be repaired through Physical Therapy and not nerve damage as the Dr is concerned about which would require surgery
* Safe travel for Christy & Trevor to Houston (is it ok to pray for an upgrade from the airline to first-class travel?)
* Trevor – short term disability to continue to pay the difference of his income while he is out.

Trevor and Christy want everyone to know that they feel at peace and know God is in this. They know the prayers they are receiving ALL over the world are what keeps their spirits positive.
